Spirit Airlines, known for no-frills flying, will offer business-class seats
·1 min
Spirit Airlines, a low-cost carrier, is introducing business class seating as part of its efforts to boost revenue. The airline will offer customers the option to pay extra for “a big front seat,” which consists of wider seats at the front of the cabin. These seats will offer additional legroom and replace the previous configuration of three seats on each side of the aisle. Spirit Airlines is also allowing passengers to pay more for seats in rows where the middle seat will not be sold. The move comes as the airline industry faces challenges in generating profits from bargain-priced seats. Spirit Airlines has not had a profitable year since 2019 and expects to report another quarterly loss due to lower-than-expected revenue. In contrast, larger legacy carriers, such as American, United, and Delta airlines, have reported record revenue by offering premium seating options.
